It has been one year since the “Purple Jersey” Campaign, our collaboration with YILPORT Samsunspor Football Club, was launched. As part of this collaboration, YILPORT Samsunspor supports women’s empowerment financially through the "Purple Jersey" Campaign. As Garip & Zeycan YILDIRIM Foundation, we extend the scope of its free Self-Defense Program for women, continuing to contribute to women’s empowerment mentally and physically.
A press conference was held at YILDIRIM Tower on November 23rd, to mark the first anniversary of the Purple Jersey and highlight gender equality activities throughout one year. It grabbed wide attention, particularly from well-known national and local channels, welcoming 45 members from the press. Our Foundation’s Executive Director, Zeycan Rochelle YILDIRIM, explained the story of the Purple Jersey and self-defense class activities lasting 1 year.
Samsunspor Club Association’s Executive, Arzu Uslu, delivered a speech at the conference: “As Samsunspor, we are delighted to have launched the “Purple Jersey” Campaign, as an essential part of combating violence against women. In the last 1 year, we have gifted women with Purple Jerseys, invited them to free football matches, and offered awareness classes to young students in Samsun. Through these, we have highlighted women’s empowerment. The purple jerseys are still on sale. We will implement a project focusing on empowering women financially from jersey purchases. We are proud to have run this awareness campaign”.
